The rapid growth of the Electric Vehicle (EV) market has heightened the demand for efficient energy management and strategic placement of Charging Stations (CSs). This thesis addresses these challenges by presenting novel solutions for energy demand forecasting and charging station optimization. We conducted a thorough data analysis and interpretation, providing valuable insights into the operation and utilization of charging stations. This analysis helped service providers understand station performance and identify areas for improvement. Building on these insights, we developed an advanced energy demand forecasting framework using Spatio- Temporal Graph Neural Networks (ST-GNNs). By incorporating additional dataset features, including Points of Interest (POI) data, we achieved improved forecasting accuracy compared to baseline models. Furthermore, we introduced a method for optimizing the placement of charging stations. This method involved reorganizing existing stations and strategically deploying new ones to balance usage and enhance accessibility. Our approach, supported by a mathematical formulation and genetic algorithm, demonstrates a significant improvement in infrastructure efficiency. These contributions offer effective strategies for enhancing EV charging infrastructure, supporting the evolving needs of the electric vehicle market.
