Quantum Computing (QC) has been an disruptive technology with applications in cryptography, optimization problems, and big data processing. When applying these technologies to Machine Learning (ML), Quantum Machine Learning (QML) exploits quantum mechanics concepts such as superposition and entanglement to accelerate algorithms and bypass computational challenges that encumber traditional approaches. In this thesis, we explore the possibility of QML for intrusion detection in 5G networks. Our contribution lies in the implementation and comparison of two typical quantum algorithms, the Quantum Support Vector Machine (QSVM) and the Variational Quantum Classifier (VQC).
