    <title>Class Imbalance in EEG-Based Epileptic Seizure Detection: A Comparative Study of Classical, Deep Learning, and Quantum-Inspired Approaches</title>
    <link>https://repository.esi-sba.dz/jspui/handle/123456789/1079</link>
    <description>Titre: Class Imbalance in EEG-Based Epileptic Seizure Detection: A Comparative Study of Classical, Deep Learning, and Quantum-Inspired Approaches
Auteur(s): TERKI, MEriem
Résumé: Epilepsy is a major neurological disorder, and the electroencephalogram (EEG) remains the primary&#xD;
modality for seizure monitoring. Automated detection from continuous recordings is nevertheless&#xD;
difficult, largely because of severe class imbalance: on clinically realistic corpora such as the Temple&#xD;
University Hospital Seizure Corpus (TUH-SZ), seizure windows form only a small minority of&#xD;
labelled data. Under this skew, accuracy alone is a poor indicator of clinical utility.&#xD;
This report is a literature review organised in four chapters. It first establishes the physiological&#xD;
and instrumental foundations of the EEG, then describes epilepsy, the classification of seizures, and&#xD;
the annotated corpora available for research. It next reviews the methods proposed for automated&#xD;
detection, from handcrafted features with shallow classifiers to convolutional, recurrent, hybrid,&#xD;
and attention-based architectures, together with the effect of class imbalance on both learning and&#xD;
measurement and the validation protocols that separate credible results from optimistic ones. The&#xD;
final chapter reviews data augmentation, deep generative modelling, latent-space generation, and&#xD;
quantum machine learning, including the hybrid and latent quantum generative designs compatible&#xD;
with near-term hardware.&#xD;
Each methodological chapter closes with a comparative study of representative work. The synthesis&#xD;
highlights recurring limitations: heterogeneous benchmarks, window-wise rather than patientwise&#xD;
validation, metrics that conceal minority-class failure, classical baselines that are not capacitymatched&#xD;
in quantum comparisons, and the frequent treatment of a single downstream gain as evidence&#xD;
that a generative model learned the distribution. These gaps define what a rigorous empirical&#xD;
study in this area would have to establish: patient-disjoint evaluation on the corpus’s own partitions,&#xD;
generation and detection on separately justified timescales, a documented augmentation dose,&#xD;
capacity-matched controls that count any hybrid readout, a shared critic, a reconstruction gate, and&#xD;
distributional, signal-level, and downstream evidence kept as separate claims. This document reports&#xD;
no original experiments; the corresponding implementation and evaluation are the subject of&#xD;
a companion engineering report***&#xD;
&#xD;
L’épilepsie constitue un trouble neurologique majeur, et l’électroencéphalogramme (EEG) demeure&#xD;
la modalité principale de surveillance des crises. La détection automatique à partir d’enregistrements&#xD;
continus reste néanmoins difficile, principalement en raison d’un déséquilibre de classes marqué :&#xD;
dans des corpus cliniquement réalistes tels que le Temple University Hospital Seizure Corpus (TUHSZ),&#xD;
les fenêtres de crise ne représentent qu’une faible minorité des données étiquetées. Dans ce&#xD;
régime, la seule précision (accuracy) est un indicateur clinique insuffisant.&#xD;
Ce mémoire est une revue de la littérature organisée en quatre chapitres. Il établit d’abord les&#xD;
fondements physiologiques et instrumentaux de l’EEG, puis décrit l’épilepsie, la classification des&#xD;
crises et les corpus annotés disponibles. Il examine ensuite les méthodes proposées pour la détection&#xD;
automatique, des caractéristiques conçues manuellement associées à des classifieurs peu profonds&#xD;
jusqu’aux architectures convolutives, récurrentes, hybrides et attentionnelles, ainsi que l’effet du&#xD;
déséquilibre de classes sur l’apprentissage comme sur la mesure, et les protocoles de validation qui&#xD;
distinguent un résultat crédible d’un résultat optimiste. Le dernier chapitre traite de l’augmentation&#xD;
de données, des modèles génératifs profonds, de la génération en espace latent et de l’apprentissage&#xD;
automatique quantique.&#xD;
Chaque chapitre méthodologique se termine par une étude comparative des travaux représentatifs.&#xD;
La synthèse met en évidence des limites récurrentes : benchmarks hétérogènes, validation par&#xD;
fenêtres plutôt que par patient, métriques masquant l’échec de la classe minoritaire, baselines classiques&#xD;
à capacité non égalisée dans les comparaisons quantiques, et assimilation fréquente d’un&#xD;
simple gain en aval à une preuve que le modèle génératif a appris la distribution. Ces lacunes&#xD;
définissent ce qu’une étude expérimentale rigoureuse devrait établir : partitions patient-disjointes&#xD;
du corpus, échelles de temps distinctes pour la génération et la détection, dose d’augmentation documentée,&#xD;
contrôles à capacité égale (y compris tout déploiement hybride), critique partagé, seuil&#xD;
de reconstruction, et preuves distributionnelles, signal et aval traitées séparément. Ce document ne&#xD;
rapporte aucune expérience originale ; l’implémentation et l’évaluation correspondantes font l’objet&#xD;
d’un rapport d’ingénierie compagnon.

    <title>Intelligent Alarm Management for Telecom Networks: Real-Time Correlation, Root Cause Identification, and Cascade Prediction Using Graph Neural Networks</title>
    <link>https://repository.esi-sba.dz/jspui/handle/123456789/1078</link>
    <description>Titre: Intelligent Alarm Management for Telecom Networks: Real-Time Correlation, Root Cause Identification, and Cascade Prediction Using Graph Neural Networks
Auteur(s): RAMLA, YAssine
Résumé: The fault management of a mobile network produces a large flow of alarms. One fault&#xD;
is often reported by many alarms on several elements, and the engineers of the network&#xD;
operations center must find which alarms belong together and where the fault lies. This&#xD;
work, carried out at Ooredoo Algeria, studies three tasks on one export of the operator’s&#xD;
alarm log: next-alarm prediction, alarm correlation and root-cause identification. The&#xD;
topology of the network links the three tasks.&#xD;
We first present the background of these tasks: mobile networks and alarms, the&#xD;
data mining methods used for correlation, and the sequence and graph models used for&#xD;
prediction. We then build two network graphs from the alarms themselves, one between&#xD;
managed elements and one between sites. For prediction, we train sequence models of&#xD;
the next alarm code and add graph information to them in three forms: static graph&#xD;
embeddings, dynamic graph features, and attention over the active alarms of neighbouring&#xD;
elements, all under the same leakage controls. Predicting the next element instead was&#xD;
tried and paused after a negative result. For correlation, we mine a catalogue of statistically&#xD;
tested rules between alarm codes at several topological distances and use it in a correlator&#xD;
that groups the alarm stream into incidents. For root cause, we name the root site and&#xD;
the root alarm of each incident.&#xD;
The export covers about 11 hours: 99% of its alarms fall on one day. On this data,&#xD;
no graph model beat the sequence model by more than the measured noise floor of 0.015&#xD;
macro F1, and diagnostics trace this negative result to the small number of examples per&#xD;
alarm code, not to the models. The graph is useful instead for grouping and locating&#xD;
alarms. On the test period, the correlator reduces the number of items to handle by a&#xD;
factor of 9.0 and keeps 89.1% of the vendor’s root–child links inside one incident. The&#xD;
root-cause method names the right site in 18 of 19 labelled incidents, against 13 for the&#xD;
site of the earliest alarm. We also design the application that would run these methods in&#xD;
the network operations center.

    <title>Intelligent Energy Routing in the Energy Internet: Reinforcement Learning and Federated Learning</title>
    <link>https://repository.esi-sba.dz/jspui/handle/123456789/1077</link>
    <description>Titre: Intelligent Energy Routing in the Energy Internet: Reinforcement Learning and Federated Learning
Auteur(s): OUCHENE, HIbet El  RAhmane
Résumé: The Energy Internet is the next step after the smart grid. It turns the power network&#xD;
into a decentralised mesh of intelligent Energy Routers that exchange both electricity and&#xD;
information. In this kind of network, power is no longer pushed along fixed radial lines.&#xD;
It has to be routed, hop by hop, over a graph whose line ratings, background traffic and&#xD;
node efficiencies change all the time. The routing task that follows from this is called the&#xD;
Energy-Efficient Path problem, and it asks for the multi-hop path that loses the least active&#xD;
power while respecting thermal limits and router capacities.&#xD;
Classical solvers have been applied to this problem for more than a decade. Deterministic&#xD;
shortest-path algorithms need a complete and fresh view of the whole grid. Population-based&#xD;
metaheuristics such as Ant Colony Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization spend&#xD;
far too much time per decision. Tabular Q-routing is fast at run time but breaks down as&#xD;
soon as the topology changes. None of the three families meets the three requirements of a&#xD;
real Energy Internet at once, namely low decision latency, low communication cost, and the&#xD;
ability to work on a grid that was never seen before.&#xD;
This thesis reviews how Reinforcement Learning and Federated Learning have been used&#xD;
to answer these limits, and asks what the combination of the two could offer to energy routing.&#xD;
Reinforcement Learning provides a single-pass decision mechanism that is trained offline&#xD;
and that runs in milliseconds during operation. Federated Learning provides a way to train&#xD;
that decision mechanism across many grid operators without moving any local measurement&#xD;
out of its own site. We survey the main works in three groups, namely learning-based energy&#xD;
routing, Federated Learning applied to smart grids, and Federated Reinforcement Learning&#xD;
applied to energy systems. We compare them along latency, communication cost, generalisation&#xD;
and privacy, and we discuss the open problems that a federated routing agent would&#xD;
still have to solve. The main one is that grid topologies differ in shape across participants,&#xD;
which makes plain model averaging a weak answer.&#xD;
The contribution of this work is a structured and critical reading of a field that is still&#xD;
fragmented. It maps the existing methods onto the physical requirements of the Energy&#xD;
Internet, it names the gaps that are not yet covered by any published system, and it proposes&#xD;
a set of directions for future research.***&#xD;
&#xD;
L’Internet de l’énergie constitue l’étape qui suit le réseau intelligent. Il transforme le&#xD;
réseau électrique en un maillage décentralisé de routeurs d’énergie intelligents qui échangent&#xD;
à la fois de l’électricité et de l’information. Dans ce type de réseau, la puissance n’est plus&#xD;
envoyée le long de lignes fixes. Elle doit être acheminée, saut après saut, sur un graphe dont les&#xD;
limites thermiques, le trafic de fond et les rendements des noeuds changent en permanence. Le&#xD;
problème de routage qui en découle est appelé problème du chemin énergétiquement efficace,&#xD;
et il consiste à trouver le chemin multi-sauts qui perd le moins de puissance active tout en&#xD;
respectant les limites thermiques et les capacités des routeurs.&#xD;
Les solveurs classiques sont appliqués à ce problème depuis plus de dix ans. Les algorithmes&#xD;
déterministes de plus court chemin exigent une vision complète et actualisée de tout&#xD;
le réseau. Les métaheuristiques à population, telles que l’optimisation par colonies de fourmis&#xD;
et par essaims particulaires, consomment beaucoup trop de temps par décision. Le Q-routing&#xD;
tabulaire est rapide en exécution mais s’effondre dès que la topologie change. Aucune de ces&#xD;
trois familles ne satisfait en même temps les trois exigences d’un véritable Internet de l’énergie,&#xD;
à savoir une faible latence de décision, un faible coût de communication et la capacité&#xD;
de fonctionner sur un réseau jamais rencontré.&#xD;
Ce mémoire examine la manière dont l’apprentissage par renforcement et l’apprentissage&#xD;
fédéré ont été utilisés pour répondre à ces limites, et s’interroge sur ce que leur combinaison&#xD;
pourrait apporter au routage d’énergie. L’apprentissage par renforcement fournit un mécanisme&#xD;
de décision en une seule passe, entraîné hors ligne et exécuté en quelques millisecondes&#xD;
pendant l’exploitation. L’apprentissage fédéré offre un moyen d’entraîner ce mécanisme auprès&#xD;
de plusieurs opérateurs de réseau sans déplacer la moindre mesure locale hors de son&#xD;
site. Nous passons en revue les principaux travaux selon trois groupes, à savoir le routage&#xD;
d’énergie fondé sur l’apprentissage, l’apprentissage fédéré appliqué aux réseaux intelligents et&#xD;
l’apprentissage par renforcement fédéré appliqué aux systèmes énergétiques. Nous les comparons&#xD;
ensuite en matière de latence, de coût de communication, de généralisation et de&#xD;
confidentialité, puis nous discutons des problèmes ouverts qu’un agent de routage fédéré devrait&#xD;
encore résoudre. Le principal tient au fait que les topologies de réseau diffèrent par leur&#xD;
forme d’un participant à l’autre, ce qui rend la simple moyenne des modèles peu efficace.&#xD;
La contribution de ce travail est une lecture structurée et critique d’un domaine encore&#xD;
fragmenté. Elle relie les méthodes existantes aux exigences physiques de l’Internet de l’énergie,&#xD;
elle nomme les lacunes qu’aucun système publié ne couvre encore, et elle propose un&#xD;
ensemble de directions pour la recherche future.

    <description>Titre: Methods and Approaches for Predictive Maintenance in the Oil and Gas Industry
Auteur(s): OULAD SAID, MOhamed LAmine
Résumé: This master’s thesis presents a literature-based review of predictive maintenance in the&#xD;
oil and gas industry, with particular attention to gas-well operations and the use of&#xD;
deep learning for time-series analysis. It connects industrial monitoring, operational&#xD;
data, and degradation processes with data-driven maintenance approaches.&#xD;
The review first establishes the industrial context through production wells, monitoring&#xD;
technologies, maintenance strategies, and major degradation processes, including&#xD;
scale deposition, wax accumulation, sand production, and corrosion. It then examines&#xD;
recurrent, convolutional, temporal convolutional, Transformer-based, and hybrid architectures.&#xD;
A comparative analysis of published studies considers statistical, machine&#xD;
learning, and deep learning approaches, distinguishing operational-value forecasting&#xD;
from fault classification, anomaly detection, and remaining useful life estimation.&#xD;
The reviewed literature also highlights limitations involving data quality and integration,&#xD;
model interpretability, scalability, validation in industrial environments, cybersecurity,&#xD;
and compatibility with existing infrastructure.&#xD;
The contribution of this thesis consists of a synthesis of existing modeling approaches&#xD;
and the main research gaps. This synthesis identifies important considerations for&#xD;
developing and evaluating predictive maintenance solutions for gas-well operations.***&#xD;

Ce mémoire présente une revue de la littérature sur la maintenance prédictive dans&#xD;
l’industrie pétrolière et gazière, avec une attention particulière portée aux puits de gaz&#xD;
et à l’utilisation de l’apprentissage profond pour l’analyse des séries temporelles. Il met&#xD;
en relation la surveillance industrielle, les données opérationnelles et les mécanismes&#xD;
