| dc.description.abstract | This work presents VerifiAuto, a digital platform designed to address the lack of trust
that characterizes the Algerian used-car market. Existing classified advertisement platforms,
such as Ouedkniss and Facebook Marketplace, connect buyers and sellers without providing
any verification mechanism, exposing buyers to risks related to the actual condition of vehicles,
fraud, and insufficient information. These risks are further amplified by Algeria’s vast
geographical area, where long distances between provinces (wilayas) make travel for vehicle
inspection costly and time-consuming.
VerifiAuto offers a remote pre-purchase vehicle inspection service. Rather than hosting
sales transactions, the platform integrates with advertisements published on third-party
websites. Using a listing link, a buyer can request an inspection by an independent and
verified automotive expert, who travels to the vehicle’s location and produces a standardized
digital inspection report. Assignment is based on a geographical matching mechanism that
selects the nearest available expert to the vehicle through distance calculation and progressive
expansion of the search radius up to the national level. The report includes structured
technical findings, photographs, and a clear final assessment intended to support the buyer’s
purchasing decision.
The platform incorporates a secure escrow-based payment system with a service commission,
protecting both buyers and experts by releasing funds only after inspection completion
has been confirmed. It also provides a real-time notification mechanism to track the different
stages of the process. Designed around three main actors (buyer, expert, and administrator)
and implemented using a modular layered architecture, the platform is adapted to the Algerian
context through support for national payment methods such as CCP and BaridiMob,
as well as a geographical organization based on wilayas. By reducing information asymmetry
and avoiding unnecessary travel, VerifiAuto contributes to strengthening trust in remote
vehicle purchase transactions***
| en_US |
