Abstract: | This thesis explores intelligent monitoring and routing mechanisms within Software- Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) environments to optimize network performance. As enterprise networking evolves with the increasing adoption of cloud services and distributed work environments, traditional WAN architectures face challenges in meeting the demands of modern applications. SD-WAN technology addresses these needs by offering dynamic path selection, intelligent routing, and enhanced monitoring capabilities. This research identifies the persistent challenges in maintaining consistent network performance and proposes advanced solutions to proactively manage routing and monitoring. Through a combination of literature review and practical case studies, the thesis examines current technologies, methodologies, and their limitations, while proposing novel approaches leveraging advanced algorithms. The study demonstrates significant improvements in network reliability, latency reduction, and performance consistency through simulations and emulations. Although conducted in controlled environments with specific scenarios, the findings underscore the potential of intelligent SD-WAN solutions. Future research could further explore complex network environments and the integration of emerging technologies like 5G, AI, and ML with SD-WAN. The thesis contributes to the body of knowledge in SD-WAN technology, offering practical solutions for real-world network performance challenges, and emphasizing the necessity for continuous innovation to meet the evolving demands of modern applications and network environments. |
